5. Ritchie Humphreys, Club: Sheffield Wednesday [Speed: 95.9mph]
Ritchie made this shot with a volley. Humphreys gave the Owls an opening day victory over the English club Aston Villa. That kick was taken in the year of 1996 with recorded speed of 95.9mph & became more memorable for Humphreys as it was his first team debut. Watch the video below of this amazing shot.
4. David Trezeguet, Club AS Monaco [Speed: 96mph]
This kick is just faster than above mentioned. There are points of difference between these 2. This effort from David Trezeguet was taken against one of the top football club i.e. against Manchester United. The kick was so fast that flew into the goal giving Raimond Van de Gouw no chance. Thereafter the player joined the Spanish club Real Madrid & joined some other legends like Ronaldo, Raul, Zidane, Figo & others.
2. David Hirst, Club Sheffield Wednesday [Speed: 114mph]
There is one more player from Sheffield Wednesday in the list of fastest shots in football history. This banger of a shot from David Hirst was unfortunate not to hit the back of the net. Instead it gave the crossbar a good teasing. Hirst was famously courted by Sir Alex Ferguson in the early 90’s, but after many bids were rejected United signed Eric Cantona. 1. Ronny Heberson, Club Sporting Lisbon [Speed: 131mph]
You may not know him but after watching his thunder strike you will become his fan. He took that shot with Portuguese club Sporting Lisbon for which Cristiano Ronaldo also played. This shot is called as thunder strike which was recorded with a speed of 131mph. It was lucky that the free kick did end up in the back of the net & not hitting someone in the wall in a rather unfortunate area. Good news is that its video is also available.
