I-League

The I-League is one of the top football competitions in India, operated by the All India Football Federation (AIFF). Founded in 2007 as a successor to the National Football League, it has served as a major platform for domestic football alongside the Indian Super League (ISL). Mohun Bagan (now merged into Mohun Bagan Super Giant), East Bengal, and Dempo SC are among the most successful clubs. The league plays a central role in developing domestic talent across India and maintaining the rich footballing traditions of cities like Kolkata, historically one of Asia's great footballing centres.
